Applying for a Library Card 

A library card allows you to:

• Check out books, DVDs, CDs and other Library materials
• Search online databases from your home, office or school
• Check your Library account online from home or office
• Place holds on items and request delivery to a library of your choice
• Apply for a library card.

What Kind of Identification You'll Need

Acceptable forms of identification include:

• Minnesota state drivers license
• U.S. passport
• Alien Registration Card
• Military identification
• Employee identification card with address
• Bank statement or other bill listing address
• School identification card

Free Library Service Areas 

Who Qualifies for Free Library Service?

You can get a free library card if you live, work or own property within Traverse des Sioux regional library system or if you're the spouse or underage dependent of someone who does.

Free service areas include:
Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley Waseca, and Watonwan.

Library services are also available to any Minnesota state resident with a valid library card according to the terms of the state reciprocal borrowing agreement.
 
Blue Earth Community Library non-resident fee policy

An annual fee of $25 is charged to each non-resident who applies for a library card, except residents of Kossuth or Winnebago counties in Iowa who wish to use the library.  Exception: Persons residing in another state but owing property in Faribault County are considered “residents” for tax purposes and are not subject to any fees.
