Library Board Minutes

August 10, 2015 - 4:30 pm

 

Members present: John Huisman, Wilma Bittinger, Cindy Lyon, Ruth McNerney, Director Eva Gaydon and City Administrator Tim Ibisch.

 

Meeting called to order at 4:30 by John

 

Minutes:  July 2015 minutes were reviewed and approved with corrections on a motion by Cindy L, second Ruth M.

 

Bills:  July expense report reviewed and approved on motion by Wilma B., second by Cindy L.

 

Director’s Report:

 

1)   Several library directors and their boards have expressed their written concern with some issues with Traverse de Sioux management as well as their new automation system with the TDS board.  Library directors are meeting monthly to discuss and offer solutions to resolve the issues.  In the meantime, TDS has announced a change in automation coordinator starting Sept. 8th.

2)   A special program, the Science of the Superhero, will be presented on August 20th, funded by the Art and Cultural Heritage Fund.   Marvel Comic Book artist Jerry DeCaire will share the science of drawing comics.

Old Business:

1)   Friends of the Library reported that they will fund the purchase of some Spanish language books for the    library.  Their Little Free Library book holder will be installed at Putnam Park soon.  They also approved   a new logo for their group designed by Corrine Eckardt.

2)   Tim will check on details for removing the community room wall as part of the plan for updating the    interior of the library.

None.
