Library Board Minutes

August 13, 2012

4:30 pm

 

Members present: John Huisman, Kathleen Benz, Sue Ellingsen and director

Eva Gaydon

Members not in attendance:  Lennie Clement and Wilma Bittinger

 

*Meeting called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President John Huisman.

*Minutes:

On a Benz/Ellingsen motion, the minutes of the previous meeting were

approved.

 

*Bills: 

Some discussion was held about budget items and how they are logged.

The Benz/Ellingsen motion to pay the monthly bills was approved.

 

*Director?s Report:

the Summer Reading Program has ended and was successful

10 students (one middle school team, one high school) participated in

the Battle of the Books in St. Peter

check the library Facebook account for recent  updates and pictures

 

*Old Business:

 The Writers Workshop mailings have been sent and posters are being

distributed

registrations are due Sept. 1 ($25/adults, $15 /students through grade 12

funding is through the Steinberg bequest

Kathy Benz and Sue Ellingsen volunteered to assist throughout the event

We were shown samples of the replacement materials that will be used

on the exterior/interior building work

 New members are needed for the board

**

*New Business:

On a Benz/Ellingsen motion, the board approved the library Disruptive

Children Policy.  This establishes a standard protocol for staff,

allowing staff to be proactive when disruptions occur.

The costume party will be the next big event after the Writers Workshop. 

 

*Other:

Town and country Players have paid their rent for costume storage.

The lower library space is serving their needs well.

 

Motion to adjourn carried unanimously at 5:00.  Next meeting will be

Sept. 10, 2012.
