Meeting called to order at 4:15p.m. By President John Huisman.

The minutes were approved as printed.

Approve Bills:

The motion was made by Wilma Bittinger and seconded by Kay Nemanic to approve payment of the April bills. No discussion, and the motion was carried.

Director’s Report:

On June 3, there will be a tour of the library facility for elementary students. Races, water balloons, and prizes to encourage young readers to make use of our library.

Preparations for the Summer reading program are well underway, with the brochures being done this week.  This year, for the first time, there will be three separate parts to the program: one for children, one for teens and one for adult readers. The program officially begins on June 7.

Nancy Willette has written a grant, which was approved, and our library now has a “We The People” shelf; this contains Americana, constitutional literature, and other patriotic materials.

Profits of $630 from DVD sales of a previous presentation relating to ventriloquism entitled “I’m No Dummy” have been donated to the library. More donations from DVD sales are still coming in.

Old Business:

The Steinberg bequest has still not been assigned.  Director Eva Gaydon has checked with the 1st National Bank about CD rates. Ann Ekse will speak with Jack Heinitz about other instruments to ensure that we get the most for our money.

A letter was sent to Bill Olson, treasurer for the Masonic Benevolent Fund to sponsor the Summer Reading Program. We have not yet received a reply, Ann Ekse will check with Bill Olson.

Bricelyn and Frost lending libraries: Frost cut the hours of the library from 10 hrs/week to 6 hrs/week, and their employee resigned. The library will be closed in Frost until a new employee or volunteer can be found to staff this. Bricelyn seems to be busier than Frost, and is open 4 hrs/week. The clientele is mainly elderly, and they are now ordering materials from our library which are delivered to this location.

New Business:  There was no new business.

Motion to adjourn  carried unanimously at 4:40 p.m. There will be no meeting in June. Next meeting will be July 12, 2010.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Ekse, Secretary
