Library Board Minutes

April 12, 2010

4:15 p.m.

 

Members present: Ann Ekse, Wilma Bittinger, Kathleen Benz, Kay Nemanic and director Eva Gaydon. Members Absent: Lennie Clement, John Huisman

 

Meeting called to order at 4:20p.m. By Chairman pro-tem Eva Gaydon.

 

A motion was made by Kathleen Benz and seconded by Kay Nemanic to approve the March minutes as printed.

 

 

Approve Bills:

 

The motion was made by Wilma Bittinger and seconded by Kathleen Benz to approve payment of the March bills. No discussion, and the motion was carried.

 

Director’s Report:

 

The legacy grant, “Great Decisions” is partnering with community education. The presentation will be on Russia. Also, a film will be presented at the library, with DVDs of the film available to the public for a fee. Proceeds will be donated to the library.

 

The Summer Reading Program is being worked up. 200 or so young readers usually enroll with around 120 or so finishing the 6-8 week program.  A couple of featured attractions this year are “The Zoo Man” and “Jason the Juggler”.

 

Old Business: 

The Steinberg bequest has still not been assigned.  The director, Eva Gaydon, checked with Kathy Bailey to ensure that we are legally able to assign these monies to an instrument that will produce more than the current interest-bearing account. Several options are being considered.

 

Amalia Olson was contacted and thanked for her service to the board.  A new board member is needed to replace her.

 

A letter is being sent to Bill Olson, treasurer for the Masonic Benevolent Fund to sponsor the Summer Reading Program.

 

 

New Business:

 

There was no new business.

The motion was made by Ann Ekse and seconded by Wilma Bittinger. to adjourn. Carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
